In February 2012, during the very first Sunday morning service of Independent Baptist Church of Belize City, Pastor Blanco gave his life to Christ.  This had followed years of rejecting the message of the Gospel because of a strong Catholic upbringing.  The invitation to attend the service came through Pastor Don Whitecar, the founding pastor of the church who had moved from the US to plant an old fashioned, Bible-believing church.  Unknown to Pastor Whitecar was that Pastor Blanco and his wife, Thara, had been searching for a home church for months in Belize City and had almost given up.  The Lord continued to build His church, and within a few years after commencement, Pastor Whitecar began the IBC Bible Institute where church families, including the Blanco’s, completed Bible courses and training.

 

The transformation of a simple, Belizean agricultural teacher, to a faithful bus driver for a city church route, and now to a pastor, is an incredible testimony of the power of God.  Pastor Blanco’s ministry is largely based on going out to the people of Belize City and bringing them to Christ.  The Blanco’s have four children, Greg, Rigoberto Jr, Benjamin, and Grace.
